How to choose field service software for your business
Short answer: list the five jobs the software must do every day, price it at your real team size, and run a real week through a free trial before signing anything.

Start with your daily work
Write down what happens in a normal day: calls come in, jobs get booked, technicians drive, work is documented, invoices go out, payments come in. The software that handles those steps with the fewest clicks for your trade is the right one, regardless of how long its feature list is.
The buyer's checklist
- Scheduling and dispatch that match how you book: recurring routes, emergency calls or multi-day projects.
- Trade tools you'd otherwise track on paper.
- A mobile app technicians will actually use, including with poor signal.
- Estimates, invoices, card on file and autopay.
- Customer texts for reminders and arrival.
- Reporting on revenue, receivables and technician performance.
- Data export and an accounting sync if you use QuickBooks.
Work out the true monthly cost
Add the plan price at your current and next-year team size, per-user or per-technician fees, texting, payment processing and any onboarding fees. A low entry price can cost more than a flat plan once you add three technicians.
Test with a real week
During the trial, import 20 real customers, schedule a real week and have one technician run it on the phone. Send an invoice and take a test payment. You'll learn more in that week than in any demo.
